SNIFF NOTES: They will be heard

They will be heard. The brown-eyed, four-legged souls who have no voice of their own. The tail wags. The barks. The meows. The nibbles. The purrs. The kisses.

They will be heard.

Max, the 1-year-old Australian Shepherd mix who was dearly loved in his previous home, but his owner could no longer care for him. He needed some time to adjust when he first arrived at the shelter. He was very confused as to why his life was turned upside down. He did not want to eat when he first arrived and had to have company in his kennel in order for him to consume food. Now he loves playing in the yard and spending time with people. Max will be heard.

Ziva, the 2-year-old Bulldog mix who absolutely loves attention. She attended a job fair recently where she got to meet a lot of people and was a really good girl. Ziva will be heard.

Luna, the 2-year-old husky/terrier mix who came into the shelter because her owner was moving and couldn’t take her along. She knows sit and loves to please her people. Luna will be heard.

Kitt, the 2-year-old terrier mix who came into the shelter as a stray but loves attention and walks. She likes to carry her toys around in the yard and knowns how to sit and shake. Kitt will be heard.

Dixie, the 7-year-old terrier who came into the shelter as a stray, but had a microchip that didn’t go anywhere. She loves to play ball and run around outside. Dixie will be heard.

Penny, the 3-year-old terrier mix who doesn’t seem to realize how big she is when she gets excited. Penny came in as a stray and is really happy-go-lucky. Penny will be heard.

Lola, the 1-year-old Doberman/hound mix who came into the shelter as a stray and adores squeaky toys. Lola will be heard.

Minnie, the 3-year-old Alaskan Malamute who came into the shelter because her owner could no longer care for her. Minnie knows how to sit and lie down and is very willing to please. Minnie will be heard.

Chaulk, the 1-year-old all white cat who came into the shelter with a sever flea allergy and had to be treated and helped to gain weight. Chaulk is a sweetheart, despite what he has been through. Chaulk will be heard.

Gray Lady, the 7-year-old gray cat who came into the shelter because her owner could no longer care for her. She is a laid-back and friendly girl who loves getting treats. Gray Lady will be heard.

Trouble, the 1-year-old brown tabby who came into the shelter because his owner passed away. He struggled a bit in his kennel because he couldn’t understand what had happened. He’s a sweet guy who likes to nap. Trouble will be heard.

Mr. McGregor, the 4-year-old orange-and-white boy who came into the shelter as a stray. He loves feather toys and catnip. Mr. McGregor will be heard.

Fruit Stripe, the 3-year-old calico girl who loves to bird watch and attention on her own terms. She likes her spot cozy and warm. Fruit Stripe will be heard.

Benedict Cumberbunny, the 2-year-old Rex/Lop ear bunny who was named after the actor who played Dr. Strange. Benedict loves veggies and doesn’t mind being held. Benedict will be heard.

The thousands of animals who come through the doors of the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter each year will be heard because staff, board members, volunteers, supporters, adopters and friends of the shelter will speak for them and about them.
