CHAMBERSBURG – The Franklin County Commissioners are pleased to announce the county is now accepting applications for the 2023 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The program is administered by the Franklin County Planning Department.

Information on the CDBG program as well as applications are available visiting the Franklin County Planning Department webpage, https://bit.ly/FCPlanning, or by contacting the Planning Department at 717-261-3855 or [email protected]. All applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. July 28.

The Planning Department will discuss the CDBG Program and the county’s FY2023 CDBG application during a citizen participation meeting tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 4 in the Franklin County Administration Building, 272 N. Second St., Chambersburg. Residents are encouraged to attend to learn more about the program and to give oral testimony on the county’s needs and the program as a whole. Written comments will also be accepted. Residents who are unable to attend the hearing in person can attend virtually by contacting the Planning Department.

CDBG funding is allocated through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), to benefit non-entitlement municipalities and community organizations within Franklin County. At least 70% of funds received by the county must be used for activities that benefit low and moderate income individuals.
