BUCKEYE

Meow! My name is Buckeye! When I was found as a stray and brought to Antietam Humane Society, I was very sick. I had a lot of nasal and respiratory issues and my eye was infected, so I had to get surgery to remove it. My blood had to be tested for any sicknesses and unfortunately, I am FeLV positive. This is known as the Feline Leukemia Virus. This virus is one of the most common infectious diseases in cats, affecting 2-3% of all cats in the US. I would love to be adopted into a loving home, but unfortunately I cannot be around other non-infected cats, or else they can get the virus from me. The virus is shed through saliva, nasal secretions, urine, feces, and milk of infected cats. It can also be transferred cat-to-cat from a bite wound, mutual grooming, and rarely through sharing litter boxes and feeding dishes. Even though I have this virus, I can still live a normal, happy life for a prolonged period of time. I am very affectionate and love head scratches! I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Apply to adopt me today!
