WAYNESBORO- Local author Emilie Amt will be leading a discussion on her book, “Black Antietam”. The African American community around Sharpsburg, Maryland witnessed John Brown’s raid, wartime skirmishes, the Battle of South Mountain, and the aftermath of the bloodiest day in American history. In her book, Emilie Amt recounts the personal stories of African Americans, both enslaved and free, who lived on the battlefield and who worked in the armies who clashed there. Signed copies of the books will be available for purchase.
Meet Emilie Amt Tuesday, Nov. 15 1 to 3 p.m. at Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library. This event is free and open to the public.
