WAYNESBORO—Waynesboro Area School District officials recently hosted the grand opening of Alma’s Beneficial House.

The three-bedroom, two-bath, 1,500-square-foot brick cape cod in the 300 block of West Fourth Street, offers a real-life environment where at least 50 middle and high school life skills students can go for hands-on learning.

There, students with complex needs will learn adult living skills such as housekeeping, laundry skills, home maintenance, yard work and meal preparation.

Funding for the home came from members of the community, from the $130,000 purchase price, to roofing, accessibility upgrades, and other renovations.
